Fall into the holiday season with new Read Island cards

Fall into the holiday season with new Read Island cards

When the days shorten and the aspen leaves crisp and crunch, my energetic summer outlook wanes. First I stiffen in anticipation; fall is in the air. And then I breathe.

Just be still. Breathe in, breathe out. Listen well.

For me, fall is the season to look inward, to reflect on the abundance of summer and replenish before the winter season. After all, I'm a ski town retailer at heart and, let's face it, Christmas is practically here.

You may have noticed Halloween decorations creeping up the display aisle in big box stores, and I can tell you that as soon as the witches' broomsticks are sold, out come the red and the green and the silver and the blue.

Hoping to build on the momentum of more than 50 retailers who supported the first products this spring and summer, Read Island launches 17 new greeting cards, 5 boxed sets and 2 puzzles on September 1. Within the collection, you'll now find a complete list of birthday, appreciation, graduation, sympathy, friendship, encouragement and blank cards that celebrate the joy of reading and the wonders of nature.

The new Read Island cards show off animals from land, sky and sea including our trusty fox, plus cougar, raven, humpback whale, grizzly bear, moose and more.

Moonlit sailboats, mismatched friends in a canoe, mountains of books and groves of aspen trees light up the gratitude collection. Sentiments for friendship, graduation, sympathy and new babies fill the special occasion collection with images of the sea wolf howl, a beachside story time, a star-gazing grizzly, sunset on the horizon, an eagle landing at the nest and a girl near the campfire reading.

Saturated horizontal imagery is complimented with blank interiors in the any occasion set. Colorful paper-cut collage wraps around both sides of each card and the playful images include an island made of books, a reader's rainbow, a sunrise sailing trip, spirit bear, and an unlikely hot air balloon ride.

Stay tuned for more puzzles, hitting shelves with the forthcoming picture book, in early October!
